Partnerships

At Animals for Elders (AFE), we work hand-in-hand with shelters to create meaningful, lasting adoptions. By supporting seniors aged 70+ with the financial resources they need, we help remove barriers to pet ownership, opening the door for more animals to find stable, loving homes.

Our goal is simple: make adoptions successful, sustainable, and life-changing for both seniors and animals.

We’ve designed a simple, collaborative process that supports both your team and the adopters you serve:
1. Shelters identify eligible animals suited for senior companionship
2. Seniors apply and are approved through Animals for Elders
3. AFE covers adoption fees and initial costs
4. Ongoing support is provided (including veterinary care and annual expenses)
5. Together, we ensure long-term success for every placement
AFE supports both shelters and adopters by funding:
- Adoption fees
- Post-adoption veterinary care
- Up to $1,500 per year in qualifying pet expenses
This ongoing support helps reduce financial strain and increases the likelihood of a successful, permanent placement.
